The Queer Country art exhibition celebrates the talents, vision and experiences of queer artists from Bendigo and surrounds. 2026 will be our 18th year and this year we have a new location for Queer Country, which is the Beehive Building. (26 Pall Mall, Bendigo).
You can be part of this venerable art institution! Queer Country runs as part of the Bendigo Pride Festival.
Important Dates:
Art Exhibition: Thursday 16th – Sunday 19th of April
Opening night: Saturday 18th of April 4-6pm.
Entries submitted by: 30th of March
Drop off artwork: 12th of April or earlier. Location discussed in a later email.
Pick up: Sunday 19th of April 4pm – 5pm from Beehive building
We are looking for art in any media, any subject matter, but we preference artworks that address themes relating to the LGBTQIA+ community. Artworks will be selected by the curator. Artists are asked to present their work ready to exhibit, framed or in a manner that can be hung on a suspended strap system. Any works not ready for exhibition may not be exhibited. There is limited floor space for freestanding works, but artists are asked to provide any props or plinths required to exhibit their work (we do not have any to provide), and any instructions required for their display. There is less floor space this year and some sculpture if too big may not be accepted. Please email to discuss if this applies to you. We also do not have access to power sources like in the past, so please no artworks that require plugging in.

Queer Country Conditions of Entry
The exhibition is open to all Bendigo and surrounding artists. Works chosen for the exhibition will be pre-selected from images sent to Queer Country Art Exhibition. Due to the available exhibition space, artist can only enter 1 artwork with the size restriction of 80cm x 80cm and under. All personal information collected will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Queer Country Art Exhibition.
Artists must arrange for the delivery and collection of their works. The Queer Country exhibition curators will be responsible for hanging the exhibition. The Queer Country exhibition curators will also be responsible for labelling of the works.
There is no charge to exhibit, however, there is a small commission of 10% on the sales of any works in the show. Please factor the commission into your pricing. Staff at the exhibition will be directly in charge of sales, and artists paid after the exhibition dates.
Our staff will take all care while handling your work and security while your artwork is displayed, however Insurance is the responsibility of the artist. Artworks will not be insured by Queer Country Art. Queer Country Art and Bendigo Pride will not be responsible for any loss or damage suffered to any artworks in its care and each entrant shall indemnify Queer Country Art and Bendigo Pride against loss or damages suffered to their artwork. Artists selected for exhibition will allow their works to be reproduced by print and electronic media in the advertising and promotion of the exhibition, unless stated on the entry form.
